During the first Pandemic Christmastime (we all should remember what year that was), I found this book on Amazon, amazed at how many different knitting stitches there are. I just had to order it with my Christmas gift card: 400 Knitting Stitches: A Complete Dictionary of Essential Stitch Patterns. There are way over 400 out there, I know, but this one will keep me busy for a while. You have a choice of paperback or spiral-bound formats, with this one.
I also got a better deal. Since I don’t like to pay full price any more than necessary, I got this as ‘used,’ and in excellent condition. As a Prime member, shipping was free. Sweet! You can find and order it here.
To use this book, I recommend that you have basic knitting skills, at least knowing how to knit and purl. So far, it gives clear instruction, even for beginners. In addition to the basic stitches that I mentioned above, I also mastered the Linen Stitch. Sometimes, it is referred to, as the Moss Stitch. If you want a clothing item or an accessory like a skirt or scarf that doesn’t have gaps, and is airtight and opaque, I recommend using this stitch, There are 8 categories of stitches, with photos, and instructions.
