My First Crochet Shower Pouf

Crocheted Shower Pouf with Scrubby Edge

In 2019, I got on a crocheted shower pouf kick; was very interested creating my own reusable one. One day, I was looking in the personal care section in Walmart, saw all these poufs hanging from clip strips, and thought:”Why buy those made of plastic, only to throw it out after a few months, and risk it getting into the oceans? Naaaaaah, it’s better to make your own, with more natural fibers.” So I did, by going on Pinterest, to find a basic pattern to start.

Finally, I actually wrote a pattern that you can actually try out! For the main pouf, I used cotton yarn, Potpurri, by the brand Lily Sugar ‘n’ Cream. I also used a dark pink color of scrubby yarn, called “Bubblegum”, by Red Heart Scrubby E388 Yarn. It matches the dark pink speckles in the cotton yarn. This color is not always available there, but I also recommend a purple or a teal. The scrubby yarn is polyester & its blend.

    Crochet Two-Toned Exfoliating Shower Pouf

Ever since I found a couple of crochet shower pouf patterns, I made several of them. One day, I got to thinking about my blog, and how to possibly make my shower poufs stand out yet more. I thought about the scrubbies that I crocheted; why not put an exfoliating edge on the shower pouf?

Feel free to use any color combinations, and brands that you want. I used the cotton yarn, “Potpourri” by Lily Sugar ‘n’ Cream, and “Bubblegum” by Red Heart Scrubby, to match one of the color speckles in the main yarn.

Feel better, knowing that you made something to reuse in the shower, rather than readily adding to the landfill. Once it has seen better days, it can be repurposed for other cleaning (I don’t recommend this on hand washing your vehicle).

Thanks for visiting my blog, and reading this post. If you try this pattern, let me know how it worked (or not). I may expand upon this, to make a spa set. Should I?
