My First Knitted Diagonal Dishcloth

If you are a beginning knitter, have you ever wondered how to make one of these Diagonal Knitted Dishcloths? I did, ever since receiving one, as part of a birthday gift bundle, years ago from a ladies group. I looked at the stitches and and decided to find a pattern, so I could learn to make more of these. After finding a pattern on Pinterest, linked to Ravelry, that worked for me, I made this one. The original author of this pattern is Jane Lake, to whom I owe my thanks for making it available to use and learn.

This pattern that I used is fairly easy to follow. Being a newbie, I followed the instructions, line by line, very carefully; frogging it twice. On the third time, I finished it. After all, this this was my first time, with this pattern, and learning a new knitting skill. Since the HR lady at my workplace liked my dishcloth project so much, I sold it to her for a few bucks.

If you want to know what yarn I used, it’s the Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Yarn in “Green Dream.” This yarn is a little harder to find, so look online on Amazon or the Bernat website. An advisory: this specific color way is not always available on Amazon; you can use whatever colors you want, especially if you aren’t fond of the green-yellow-white color scheme. Here is a substitute that is less intense, and contains more blue: Country Stripes. In my mind, these greens were perfect for Spring. Everything was in renewal: fresh and bright. If you want to stretch yourself a bit as a knitter, I recommend making this type of dishcloth. I enjoyed learning how to knit this one.

Disclaimer: I may earn a small commission as an Amazon Associate, depending on whether or not you click the link to purchase the yarn featured in this post. It won’t cost you anything extra, except the total paid on Amazon, or wherever else. If anything, you’ll be helping me drive sales and potentially get rewarded.
